Share a song you loved when you were a little kid.
...but seeing it now, man those men need looser fitting pants, LOL.
I think I like this version better now, even though the other does bring back ear worm memories:
Share a song for a sunny day.
I've been listening to KaiserCartel a lot lately. But this song really stands out for me. It makes me so happy every time I hear it. I think it's because of my love for strange little noises that don't usually get put into songs. In this one, it's that sort of "old melodic phone" noise.* I know that's not really what it us, but for lack of better terms, that's what I'll refer to it as.
Today has been a good but really stressful one for me. I got to work reeeally early and it gave me a 12 hour work day, which was great, except that my iPod battery died, causing me to have to listen to the banter of coworkers about subjects that make my chest and lungs feel tight like they're going to implode on themselves. Not a good feeling. Especially when there's no music to escape into. That's what I get for not having my back-up iPod charged like usual. I'll never make that mistake again, that's for sure. I can't handle stuff like that right now.
Focus on the little things. Just breathe.
Leslie & Laura will be here in about 18 hours. So much to do before then...
*Edited to add: I did some research. That "bell" noise that I love? It's a battery powered milk-frother on a xylophone. How awesome is THAT?
It's National Cheeseball Day. Show us something cheesy.
In addition, some may say that Scott and I have a smooshy, cheesy kind of love. He mentions me in speeches. And I love him. And he loves cheese. So, in honor of that, here's a clip of one of his speeches that he posted on his blog today. If you watch at the 3:30 point, you'll see that I'm mentioned in that segment - with my pink hair!!!
You're making a Mix Tape titled "8th Grade Dance." Share the first song you'd put on it.
I spent a lot of time thinking about this. And I've come to a decision:
And in looking for that, I found this - and it BLEW my mind.
Little sister - do you remember spending HOURS playing this game and perfecting each song?!? Omigawdash. Wee need to find out Mario Paint mouse and break it down. That would be days of fun!!!! (Or at least 45 minutes worth, right?)
It's National Puppy Day! Show us the cutest puppy you can find.
Clearly, I have the cutest puppy ever. :)

In other news, today was a good day. My iPod worked all day with the new battery!!! I am so excited about that fix. It's like having a whole new iPod. :)
After work, I picked up the living room, which was scattered with mail from when I was sick, dog toys, and dog toy guts. I got ready to vacuum, but then Scott got home so we went to dinner at Pho Grand. It was yummy, as always. Then I ran into the store to get some cookie dough ice cream, which I haven't touched yet, because when we got home, I went all 'meth head' on my house.
I vacuumed and then cleaned the kitchen. I moved everything off the countertops and scrubbed them. I moved everything off the floor and swept. Then I cleaned out a few little cabinets. Then I decided to clean the bathroom too. Scrubbed the floor and toilet and sink down. Cleaned the cups and towel holders. Changed the air fresheners. Then I hung the laundry and got tomorrow's laundry ready to wash.
And now, I feel way better. So, tomorrow I will do laundry, pick up the few things at the store I need for the trip, and then start phase one of packing. Cleaning my house wasn't even on my list of things to do, but for some reason after doing that, I feel that I will accomplish everything I need/want to with time to spare.
And finally, before I go try to calm down so I can sleep, here's a picture of me doing iPod surgery:
March is Humor Society Awareness month, so what are you waiting for? Show us something that will make us laugh!
Maybe more of a smile, but look how tired my little doggie was. She played all day at Twister's house, and it looks like I have a night of sleeping whoops and sleep running in my future:
Share your favorite childhood nursery rhyme.
I have a few that I remember. When my mom used to tell us this (or really any) rhyme, and we used to think she was just making them up because she was crazy. I always thought that they were our little rhymes and that no one else knew them, because when the kids at school would hear them, they would think that *we* were crazy.
My favorite one went:
"Once upon a time,
A goose drank wine,
A monkey chewed tobacco on a street car line.
Street car broke,
Monkey choked,
And they all lived together in a little bitty boat."
It wasn't until college that I found out that my mom didn't make that up (not that she had ever claimed to, but it was so strange, that we assumed only she could have done it). It was a jump rope rhyme from the '60s.
Another that we thought she made up was:
"Last night, my little spider died (cha cha cha),
They said he committed suicide (cha cha cha),
They said he died to spite us,
Of spider memingitis (cha cha cha),
He was a nasty little spider anyways,
So we ate him up! Yum yum yum!"
Turns out, she didn't make that one up either. It was a girl scout song, just like she swore it was.
There was at least one more, but it just completely escaped my brain. I'll have to call my mom or sister tomorrow and ask what it was. It was equally inappropriate for children, but just as special to me as the other two, though maybe not, if I can't recall it, haha.
In other news, for those that watch "Ghost Whisperer" - can you BELIEVE what happened tonight?!? Holy crap. And next week looks eight kajillion times better! I know there will be a twist too, but oh man! How awesome!
Also, today was suuuuper nice out. So I left work at 1, and went and had lunch with my mom. Then I went to Spunsilver Creations and used the rest of my gift card on all kinds of awesome fibers that I am super excited to dye and spin and play with. I think I may try to do that tomorrow.... Then we walked Paisley at about 9, down to the Starbucks where she made a new friend. They played about 30 minutes and now we have a very happy, very sleepy dog on our hands. I have a feeling there will be sleeping whoops tonight. :)
Show us your favorite variety of Girl Scout cookie.
Funny you should ask that. I have a literal trunk full at the moment. About $100 in cookies, $25 of that for me. And of course, *I* got the only girl scout cookie that exists as far as I'm concerned:
I was just thinking today how funny this time of year is. One day, everything is normal, and the next, brown boxes with green logos flood the streets, backs of cars and vans, office buildings, and the entrance ways of grocery stores with happiness, excitement, and deliciousness. Just thinking of this, I can taste my thin mints, in all their delicious glory.
And this year - I'll do a better job of hiding them, so that I can make them last through out the year as I had planned. :)
In other news - today was a great day. I think tomorrow will be too.
Today is Peanut Butter Lover's Day. Show us something that is good with peanut butter.
This seems to really be the only thing we use peanut butter for these days... Well, other than peanut butter and honey sandwiches, but that assumes I have bread readily available. Which is not always so.
Today was good. Slept in. Spun yarn. Cleaned the bathroom. Washed the dishes. Spun more yarn. Went to a steak and potatoes dinner at my parents' house. Came back, wrote this blog. Now I'm thinking I'll finish off the rest of that chocolate covered cherry blizzard from yesterday... So, yeah. My weekend was a pretty good one.
