...when vox had QOTDs that were worth answering? I need a filler tonight, and this sponsorship nonsense is of no help to me.
It was in the low 70s again today. Right now, according to the dashboard, it's 63 wonderful degrees out. Windows are open and air is circulating through. It'd be a great night for a bonfire. I wish they made a candle that smelled like a campfire. And roasting marshmallows. Maybe they do... I should look into that.
Tonight was knit night. We met at Heather's house and so Stella came. Aaaand. So I finished the 1st 4 oz of Tammy's gift yarn. I am so excited to spin the 2nd batch. The coloring is different and will be a lot more exciting for me. But, I am really excited about it. I cannot wait to see it done, because it will be beautimus.
Which hobby do you wish you had the time for?
Right now? My spinning wheel. :(
Between work and trying to survive, I have no time left for fun it seems.
Tonight, I came home from work and after craving chocolate chip cookies all day, decided I'd make some oatmeal s'mores cookies. Made the dough, was really excited, and them went to get my baking tray, forgetting I'd already turned the oven on and burnt the bejezus out of the fingertips on my left hand. To the point where I could rob a bank. Damn.
So, I just packed the dough into a tupperware container to put in the fridge. Maybe I'll make them tomorrow morning. After my very tragic experience tonight, I just didn't feel like cookies anymore.
Maybe I should have just spun instead.
Which website do you use that most increases your productivity? How did you accomplish the same tasks before that site entered your life?
Define productive... Ravelry.com has changed my knitting life as I know it. It's given me a social outlet, both in real and fake life, opened my world to kajillions of patterns, and of course, has led me on the fast path to spinning.
I love ravelry. Love love love.
But, it seems that sometimes knitting/fiber arts should be my top priority... Isn't that dumb?
In other news, I had horrible nightmares about my old job last night. I had a dream that I had to go back there and work. It was terrible. I'm so glad I don't ever have to go back. Good riddance to them.
In other-other news, today at new job I read all about the mortality rates of Swedish chimney sweeps in the 1940s and 1950s. As well as other occupational hazards. I also learned about all the terrible things that can happen to your nerves. And about all the complications of pregnancy in horses, including delivery, birth defects, and disorders in foals. Did you know that there is a birth defect that makes a sheep a cyclops? Crazy shit. I'm going to be an awesome addition to any cocktail party here soon.
Show us a picture taken last night.
Look what a party animal I am. I totally cast on for a sweater last night:
Woo!
Today I learned that if you spin for 12ish hours in a 36 hour period, your calves fall off. This is good to know.
Other than that, I'm very boring tonight. I have not a lot to say, but tomorrow I should blab a lot because I'll have my big project done.
If someone had told me, even as recently as New Year's Day 2008, that I'd have spent the day spinning yarn, I'd have called bull shit. But, here I was, spinning 4 oz of yarn today. No pictures of that yet, but I'll take some tomorrow.
Today was a big day. I accomplished a lot. Let's make a list:
- Cleaned the whole house
- Washed all the dishes
- Put away all the clothes
- Went to the Christmas party for my dad's side of the family.
- Made minty snowmen, penguin, and sheep with Jessie.
- Spun and plied some yarn that I'm calling "Mini Mermaid"
What "old fashioned" cultural behavior do you wish still existed in these modern times?
Preface: 75% of you that read this blog, you will probably hate me after this. If you think you will love me unconditionally, read on.
I wish that women were still home makers and house wives. I want my job to be crafting, tending to children, cooking, and cleaning. I would be perfectly happy staying in doors all day with my domestic duties. I would kick ass at them, too. I could have an allowance, do the shopping for the family, and get thrifty to impress my husband. I would save us money and be an awesome household manager.
I would knit, sew, and spin and things would be swell.
In short:
Dear Feminists,
Thanks for ruining everything for me. Boo to you.
