Paisley and I had a big day today. We went to the Howl-o-ween party in Troy, IL. That was exhausting, and then we came back and sat around a bit.
Next, we headed to Elysha's house to hang out with them, have dinner, and go trick or treating. It was a super good time.
I'm really tired. And we get an extra hour tonight, which makes me even happier than I already am.
Today, for the first time in what surely seems like weeks, the sun was shining over St. Louis. The sunset was beautiful on the way home from work. The moon was in the sky, and there were pink clouds. It was an awesome start to what I hope is an awesome evening.
I ran inside after I got home to get my camera so I could shoot away to share, and instead I discovered my battery was dead. Isn't that just the way it goes. :(
It's okay. I have a feeling the rest of the night will go better.
We have another dog event tomorrow! I'm way excited.
That was the name of this awesome indoor play place that was near my house as a kid. I always wanted to have a birthday slumber party there, but never did. It went out of business and is a Goodwill / Hancock Fabrics now. Just as cool for me now that I'm an adult, though I wouldn't want to sleep in either one. :)
Yesterday I spent an hour on the elliptical. I paid for that today. To counter act that, I did it again tonight. I will either hurt in a major way tomorrow or feel really great.
I spent the whole day bouncing off my cube walls today.
I don't know what it is, but in the last few weeks all these doors seem to be opening for me, and there are good things behind every single one of them. I am feeling leaps & bounds better. I seem to have all these reasons to be happy, and I'm feeling so appreciated in my walks of life. I have to say, it's taken that appreciation to realize that I wasn't feeling the appreciation in my life before.
Speaking of appreciation, I've also been getting lovely notes and packages in the mail. I totally appreciate everyone who's taking the time to say hi. I'm getting caught up with thank you notes slowly... Please know that you all are making my day with every note and card.
I had the best weekend ever last weekend. For real.
And now I'm home. I slept from 7pm to 8am last night. Now, it's 10pm, and I'm crashing hard.
I'd like to say more here, but tonight is not the night for that. Maybe tomorrow night will be. It's hard to say.
All I can say right now is "Yawn!"

Guess what I got today!
A JOB! I'm so mega super excited about it. It means I get to go back to work for the super awesome wonderful company that I contracted for the majority of this year. :)
And, to celebrate, Scott got me an inappropriate cake (as he does every time I change jobs):
This one reflects my gained knowledge of information that no one wants to know about while working with text books. Most of that knowledge I imparted on Scott when I'd get home at night. :)
It's a double layered cookie cake, and it literally weighs 6 lbs. I'm pretty sure it'll be coming along to knit night tomorrow. :)
Having been here only two days, the days are already blending together.
In the morning, I had an "American Breakfast."
It was good, but the waffles tasted more like a waffle cone than regular waffles. I liked the bananas on top. I give it an A.
Scott had a photo shoot and interview with MX (a newspaper). While he did that, I took a wander into the Queens Street Mall, which is extremely large and deceptive.
The managed to fit a 3 level target in there though! It's NOTHING like the Targets at home. The clothes are all very different, dressier mostly. There's really no food or stationary section or anything.

When Scott was done with the interview, we were supposed to go to the koala sanctuary, but we missed the bus because I didn't know you had to hail it like a taxi. But, the bus stop was across from the library which is super neat. Here are some pictures of that:
Instead, I showed him the mall and we wandered in there a bit. I had a mushroom and pepperoni pizza, but it was really strange because the sauce wasn't tomato. It was sweet, and kind of good, but I felt a little sick after having it. When we were getting ready to leave, we tried to cut through a store to get to the elevator. A few steps in, I stumbled upon isles and isles of YARN! It was a big box craft store! Scott let me touch everything and then we left. :)
We started to get hungry, so I looked for a restaurant that served kangaroo while Scott worked out. Found one, and we headed out. As we left, I stopped at level 8 to snap a quick shot of the heated pool we swam in yesterday:
It was really pretty at the restaurant, it was off the water by the Story Bridge. Here was my dinner:
I thought those yellow things were potatoes. They were NOT. They tasted of poison and it was horrifying. But the steak was good. They wouldn't do it up well or medium well because it's a tougher meat, so I ate around the fleshy bits. I don't like to see that the meat had blood.

Tomorrow we'll go to the sanctuary for real. Scott's got two big interviews and I'll get to visit a local knitting group in the evening. More pictures tomorrow!
But not really, because our flight leaves at night. So I don't even think I'll be out of the US by midnight, but whatever.
I'm gearing up and getting excited. But you'll hear more about that later in the week and tomorrow.

Today was my last day in my contract position. It was a really good day. They surprised me with doughnuts and cake and a little shin dig of people stopping by to see me off. My managers were even awesome enough to get me a going away present! They got me the coolest knitting journal/notebook I have ever seen and a book about repurposing knitwear from thrift shops and the like. To make it even more over the top, they included a thank you note and a gift certificate to one of the local yarn shops here.
It was super hard not to tear up feeling that appreciated. I really don't even have the words to say how awesome my time there has been and how thankful I am to have been able to stay there that long.
I've interviewed for two positions within the company that I should know about the week I get back. Please don't ask questions, I'm not really ready to answer them or get my hopes up, but everyone has said they have a good feeling about it. Happy vibes are welcome.
I hope that by heading to Australia and staying busy I can come back to the best news ever and be ready to jump in.
Fingers crossed and almost packed, I'll post again before I get on the plane tomorrow.

Tomorrow I have another interview for the job I really, really, REALLY want... Let's hope for 3 in a row, okay?
