Yay for Saturday

Today was super fun. I woke up, got ready, and Kobe helped me ice the cupcakes we made last night. It took freaking forever to get the icing ready, but it got done in time.

Then we went to the yarn shop to drop some stuff off, and headed to the wedding shower. It was a pretty good time, the place it was at was really neat. Pictures of that maybe Monday when I get my camera cord.

Then we had a super late lunch, came back and knitted into the night. I cast on for the 2nd fingerless mitt and got half the cuff done, then decided to cast on for the longways linen stitch scarf with some handspun and made good progress on that.

Had a suuuuuper delicious dinner, and then we watched the Pee Wee Herman movie. I forgot how excellent that one was. I think I need to own it now.

Tomorrow I'm driving back in what looks like 5 hours of rain. Should be a blast.

We went to see the new Harry Potter movie tonight. I have to say that I was quite disappointed. Extreme lack of knit wear, though I swear there was a reference put in there for us knitters. Also, it was too long winded for my liking. They could have really shortened the end up. It just drug.

That could also be because it was after 10 and I was tired. But, chances are, it was more the first option.

Soaked and set the twist in my first ever navajo ply yarn today. I'll post pictures tomorrow when it's dry.

Went to knitting and cast on for the herringbone mitts.

Other than that, I got nothin.

Other than that, today wasn't too eventful. I cleaned the bathroom and living room, and navajo plied yarn for the first time, and that was cool. But, other than that, I got nothing.

Tomorrow should be really eventful. Maybe I'll even have good news. Don't bank on it though.

Hey all. I'm home, and back into the groove.

Today was an interesting day. Woke up to wet work clothes, so I threw those in the dryer and ate cake and played on line in my towel while waiting for them to dry. :) It would have been quite the picture, but don't worry, I didn't take one.

Went to work, accomplished a lot, came home and took a bunch of pictures. Here is the progress that was made in flight and on the S bus in Miami on my Tree Jacket:

It's 521.5 yards of blue faced lester love in about sport weight. It looks exactly as I'd hoped - like a melted purple popsicle. :)

That's all for now. Tomorrow should be a fun day. I'm thinking about attempting to record my very first podcast... It definitely won't be up yet, but it will be a good start!!

Tonight was knit night. We met at Heather's house and so Stella came. Aaaand. So I finished the 1st 4 oz of Tammy's gift yarn. I am so excited to spin the 2nd batch. The coloring is different and will be a lot more exciting for me. But, I am really excited about it. I cannot wait to see it done, because it will be beautimus.

Also, Heather made us chicken tacos and delicious chocolate cake. She is the best knit night hostess ever. And it was great.

Oh, I also signed up to give blood for the first time ever. It's this Friday and I'm really excited. They're doing it at work. It's the first time I have been qualified, as I now weigh enough, haven't gotten a new tattoo in the last year, and I've been taking iron pills daily so I'm not anemic (I don't think) anymore. So, I'll maybe document it, and I'll talk about it for sure. But, I'm totally excited to be able to finally give blood. Because I'd want someone to do it for me.

And now, it's midnight and I am still up. This is crazy.

Paisley is cuddling me, and I love it. She was force cuddling me with her head on my keyboard, but she's given that up and is at a much better cuddle now. I love my little big doggie. She really is the bestest ever.

After commenting back and fourth with Ellie, I realized that my newer readers have no idea what kind of spinning I do. You may think I'm looking forward to exercising, and that would be a bold faced lie. Instead, my kind of spinning is taking tuffts of fiber like this:

I sure hope not. Today was a pretty good day.

I cleaned most of the house. Still need to clean the kitchen counters and the bathroom, but I feel like I did a lot today.

I also got a present in the mail from Leslie!!! These pictures don't even begin to do either object justice, but I wanted to post them tonight. I'll take good pictures tomorrow.

Yummy Yarn!

Aren't they pretty?!? I knew I was getting the yarn, which is so silky and soft and smooshy and wonderous, but the hat totally took me by surprise. And it is the greatest hat EVER. I wore it all day today around the house, and can't wait to wear it out tomorrow!

Heather's Bobbin Singles

As you can see from the last picture, I have a considerable amount of one bobbin left. I think, per Heather's idea, that I'll save it and make a Franken-skien later on. It could be fun. :)

Other than that, kind of a lot happened today. Well, I guess it started more with yesterday.

Had an interview yesterday morning, and then had 2 voicemails. The first one saying not to come in to my temp job that day. The next one saying, "Ooops! Just kidding, please come in today." Got there and found out there was nothing to do that day. So, we all got sent home after about 2 hours of work, with them saying that they should have something for me next week again. Which still gave panic, because I need a paycheck....

Got a call today saying that they needed me for real again, starting tomorrow. That this was going to be a few more weeks of work. I sure hope so, because I could use those few weeks, ya know?

Mom called me tonight around 8 to let me know that Milli passed away today. I wish I could have gone out to see her this week, even though she wasn't really 'with it' this week and wouldn't have known who I was anyway. Though, maybe it's better this way, sometimes it's nice to remember people a different way, before they were sick.

Mom got warning with Milli, they told her "now is the time to see her" last week. But, I can't help but sit here and think about when my grandma died. She had Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, I never wanted to go visit because she never recognized us. It was important for us to go see her that last day. We didn't know it was going to be like that, we thought we were just going for another visit. We got to the nursing home, and they said, "Didn't they tell you she was moved to the hospital today?" And we went there. And the doctor came and told us the news. And when he walked out of the "doctor only area" I could see her through the open door. She looked so scared, she didn't know what was going on or where she was. I wish I wouldn't have seen her that way. After that, I just wanted to get the hell out of there - I waited outside and in the lobby while my aunts and uncles talked about the next steps. She died the next day.

So... That means I'll have a wake and a funeral this week.

Today I finished spinning the laceweight singles for Heather's yarn and started to ply. This has been my first time plying 2 actual-laceweight singles together. It has also been my first lesson of "plying two laceweight singles takes FOREVER". I'm very excited about that. Cause it means that this is a shit-ton of yardage. It's so skinny, even after it's plied! I think that it might actually be fingering/sock yarn when it's done. No way to tell yet, things always change after the twist is set.
