Here are a few of the pictures from last night:
Not all of the ones I took turned out. Paisley doesn't always understand the total stillness that I need for my longer shutter speeds to get the good shots on a higher aperture than a 2.8. I wanted to go to the race today, but had a bunch of other things to take care of instead. Next year I'll go to both and do a lot better photo wise.
This is my favorite annual event in St. Louis because it gives me the chance to better my diverse camera setting skills. It has a lot of environmental circumstances: the balloons lighting at unexpected (and expected) times, the dark sky as a contrast, the people walking in front of your perfect shot, the movement of the balloons on windy nights or on the outside of the circle... The list goes on forever.

Today I had lunch with two friends that I contracted with and then we went to a yarn shop. After that I ran errands and then Scott & I did our annual repeat of the 1st date. It was raining and lightening, so we couldn't go to the go cart and mini golf place, but the dinner at Crown Candy was the best. I had a cherry-pineapple-marshmallow malt, and I can whole heartedly say it was the best thing I have ever consumed. I'm glad CC is so far out of my way on normal days - that could be a dangerous place for me to visit more than a few times a year.
In other news, the new Speed Racer movie was pretty neat. They could have found a cuter star, but whatever.
Too tired to really say anything of value, so here are a few pictures from the weekend:

Today was a big day. Woke up, cleaned the bathroom, got ready, and went to lunch with friends from work. Had some shopping too.
Came home, did a sink of dishes. Walked Paisley around the block for an hour.
Went to dinner at a delicious Brazilian steak house, and then to the grocery. Did 2 more sinkloads of dishes, and now that gets me here. Exhausted. Full. Watching Law & Order SVU.
Tomorrow will be another big day.
- I might get to see the kids I grew up with on Saturday!!! We're talking of having a street reunion!
- Work today was good. Accomplished a lot before the system went down and I couldn't finish my list. But, it meant I got to leave earlier than expected.
- I like DPNs better than magic loop. But I need metal DPNs.
- I have the world's cutest dog.
- Night time.
Today I went on a yarn crawl with Heather, Shi, and Erin. We visited Knitty Couture, went to have lunch at Pi, then went to the mall, to Kirkwood Knittery, then to Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and World Market. Pretty big day.
Came home, burned some slideshow DVDs for Heather, got dinner, and knitted some on the scarf. After some Law & Order episodes, I now have three repeats done on the scarf!!! This was just one repeat in, but here's a picture:
It doesn't really look that cool there, but with more repeats it's really coming together. I'm thinking if I can just get one repeat done a day, this thing will fly by. It's going to be really pretty... Maybe even hard to give up. :)

Today had good parts and bad parts. I'm going to only focus on the good because I don't have the time or energy to rant. Well, that and this blog had too wide a readership.
I was up until 2:30 am working on my freelance project this morning. And it paid off. I finished the inside!!!! The first cover comp is done, and I'd like to make one more before tomorrow afternoon, but I am now officially realizing that it's an impossible task at this point.
Slept in, but somehow that was still only 7 hours of sleep, haha.
Then Scott & I went to see the new Xmen movie and to dinner at Outback with a friend from work and her husband. It was a super good time!!! I went into the Xmen movie expecting nothing, because I have been sadly disappointed by the last few Marvel/superhero movies I've seen. It was shockingly good for what I'd thought it'd be. However, it was too long. For being just under 2 hours, it seemed like 4. Too much back story. Too much mush. Not enough explosions and senseless destruction. BUT - better than I'd expected. And dinner was delish - even though my steak was "over done" not "well done" haha. But, anything is edible with A1. :)
Came home. Worked. Dealt with family stuff, financial stuff, and plans for Mother's Day since we will be gone in Ft. Lauderdale next weekend for a wedding. I'm looking forward to that. So much, in fact, that I'm thinking of not even bringing my laptop. I can blog from my phone, of course, but it should would be nice to be 100% unreachable for those 3 days. I'm turning into a recluse.
That's all for now. Big, busy (and hopefully not too stressful) day ahead of me tomorrow. More on that then.
I have nothing to say, yet again.
Actually, I have a lot to say, but I'm just not really ready to formulate it into lists and really think about what it is I need to be saying right now.
I am very tired. It takes every ounce of my strength to roll out of bed in the mornings. Then I drag all day. This funk has got to go. I got deadlines at work today, and it looks like 12 hour days the rest of the week. Good and bad I guess.
I talked to Chris tonight at knitting, and she has maybe inspired me to try looking into a few things I didn't think I could do.
Tonight at knitting we threw a surprise baby shower for Elysha. And she was genuinely surprised. And that made all of us really happy. We gave her hand knitted things, and they were all super cute. Heather took pictures, I'll prolly be able to post them by the weekend.
It was also Tammy's last knit night. I'm really sad. And still a little in shock. She is too. Really, we all are. *sigh*
So, that's really all. Which is more than I'd expected to say. Real blog tomorrow, or so I hope.
I wish I had more to say today. I have a lot on my mind, but am really too tired to try and form them into sentences. So, since everybody loves a list, here ya go:
- The only real best friend I've had as an adult is moving to DC this weekend. I am bummed out so far beyond words about this that I have resorted to pretending it's not actually going to happen. Tomorrow is her going away party at knit night. This will mark the first time I am not excited to go to Wednesday night knitting.
- Work is somehow taking up all my time, and just when I get ahead, I seem to fall back behind. Treading water is exhausting.
- I worry what will happen when my contract job is up.
- I wish it would get warmer outside and the sun would stay up longer, I'm tired of it being so dark out.
- The apostrophe key on my keyboard keeps sticking, and it's really pissing me off.
- I feel like I could sleep 24 hours straight and still be exhausted.
- I wish I was better at sewing. I need to work on that.
- I got a travel mug that keeps things warm all day. I thought the package was lying, but it's totally true. It makes me look forward to drinking things.
- Scott is the best boyfriend ever.
- My dog is a bed hog.
- They are both waiting for me to join them. I bet Paisley is in my spot.
- She's gonna be really hard to move. And I won't have as much of the blanket as I want.

These were all things I did today.
Tammy came over and we went to the IL-side for a mini yarn crawl and tri-birthday celebration. We had lunch at a great restaurant and this was our dessert:
Delicious! We went to a bead/yarn store after, and I realized that I love beads. I love things in general. I think, after thinking about this a few weeks now, it's potential that I love. Blank canvases. Empty notebooks. Raw supplies. However, I seem to love these things so much that I don't ever *use* them. I'll work on that this year.
Tonight, Scott and I went to Jazz at the Bistro for dinner and a show. I knitted and it was fun.
In other news, the other day I got a hair cut. I also got a really sweet hand-made beaded necklace from "Little O". Here is a picture of both:

Today was a random sort of day. Went to Starbucks to knit with Scott while he read in the afternoon... Managed to pack everything to work on Tammy's sleeves, except the sleeves, and everything to swatch my scarf, except the pattern. So, that was useless.
Tonight, we watched "Young at Heart" (that documentary about the elderly folks that sing punk rock choir style) and it was awesome. I want to be a spunky old lady, if I must get old.
I also got a call from an old friend that I had a falling out with. It was great to talk and clear some things up. I hope to have a lunch visit this week - I missed my friend.
Other than that, my 3rd interview is tomorrow... I hope it kicks ass.
