Totally overslept today. I was up until 3 am or so working on stuff.
Got ready and Paisley and I went to the STL Pet Expo with Jessie and Twister. It was packed. It was also a really nice day out.
After dog stuff, we went to Jessie's and hung out. I knit my Halloween costume, which was awesome. I'll share pictures tomorrow.
Now, it's off to my shift of the 24 hour knit-a-thon!
I love my Paisley.
I have a lot to share tonight! First, Paisley and I have been working on her Ewok noise. I got her to do a few good ones (in with a bark or two and a lot of jumping around - which is the jingle noise) with my microphone on so that I could share them with you guys. I had to make my prompt noise a few times, but then she got talkative.
Next. I got my hair done today - professionally. This would mark only the 2nd time in my life I've paid someone to do my hair. The first on was actually color correction because my mom insisted that my hair be it's natural color for my senior pictures. So, here's a before and after for you:
And finally, from all that sitting in the chair letting dye set today, along with some movie watching tonight, the colorwork and half the upper ribbing on my fingerless mitt is done!!!! Here are a few shots of that:
That last picture's a little strange, but my thumb gusset turned out so beautifully that I needed a way to share it. :) I hope to have it finished by tomorrow, and then cast on for the 2nd one. I'm way excited about the progress. They're a bit snug, but I know that they'll stretch out with wear, plus I think they'll keep my hands a lot warmer that way.
So. Yay for a day of things to share!
Today was another beautiful day. It was also a big day for Paisley & Oreo! We went to Elysha & Scott's house at about 2 and the play date began.
They played, Scott barbecued, and I got to hold Abby (eep!) while Elysha and I caught up. After lunch, we had a good long walk in the park that went well, as you can see in these pictures:
Such fun! After that we had ice cream, took a rest, and Paisley & Oreo ran and played a bit more.
On the way home, Paisley snored in the car. Now she's snoring by me on the couch.
I'd say it was a pretty darn good day. :)
Today was the nicest day ever. 75 degrees! Got off work early because I got there so early. And Paisley & I took a ride out to hang out with Twister and Jess. We went to the local state park, and have a faboo time. Here are a few pictures:
I now have 2 more repeats done on the scarf thanks to knit night.
Before I left, I was home for a bit and let Paisley out to play in the yard. Came in, did some dishes, came out to see this:

Also, I don't know if I posted pictures, but here's my finished knitted doughnut that I gave to Elysha for Abby tonight:
And now - bed time. I don't think I could keep my eyes open for 5 more minutes if my life depended on it.

- I might get to see the kids I grew up with on Saturday!!! We're talking of having a street reunion!
- Work today was good. Accomplished a lot before the system went down and I couldn't finish my list. But, it meant I got to leave earlier than expected.
- I like DPNs better than magic loop. But I need metal DPNs.
- I have the world's cutest dog.
- Night time.
Today was a good day. Slept in a bit, got ready, and headed the the Bark in the Park with Paisley. She had a fabulous time, and the weather was super for it. We wandered around, looking at the vendors, Paisley got in her sniffs and did a really great job not tugging me around the whole time. Just once, when she saw a dog that looked like Twister, and she drug me about 45 feet. Resulting in cuts from the leash on my knuckles. Ouch. But, ya can't blame her, that dog did look just like Twister.
When we were headed back to the car, we stopped at this little 10 x 10 foot fountain that's in front of the Muny. I figured she'd just stick her head in for a quick drink, but she hopped right into the thing! It was deeper than she'd hoped, I guess, but she swam a full lap and hopped back out. Everyone around had a good laugh about it. I don't know why I didn't expect her to jump in. I guess I figured it was a bit chilly so she'd just get her drink and go. She was pretty excited about the whole thing. She's been sleeping pretty good since then.
After the park, I came home and worked on a few things, caught up on some TV, and got about 2.5" of the lace body of the tree jacket done. It's going pretty fast now. It'd go even faster if I had a smaller cable, but for now this is what I've got. I'll probably switch the cables out tomorrow night so that I don't have to mess with the looping. If I can get knitting time in each night this week, I bet I can finish it by the end of May pretty easily. Of course, I won't be able to wear it.. Well, actually, I will get to wear it in August when we go to Australia. I think it'll be cool enough there for it. But only if it turns out cute. I don't want to wear a botched sweater on vacation. :)
We also went to see Mimi in the hospital today and visited with Bobby, who is in town to be with her as well. It was nice to catch up with him.
Ran a few more errands, got a few things that were much needed, and just relaxed while watching "Logan's Run" - a futuristic science fiction film from the '70s. Not nearly as good as "Time Machine" but not too bad either.
So, now that all that's over, it's time for bed.
More excitement will follow tomorrow, I'm sure.
It's been a year since we adopted Paisley. It was actually a year yesterday, as that was when the adoption was finalized. But we named her a year ago today, thus, it's what we're calling her birthday.
I'm sorry to say that we couldn't celebrate it today, there were a lot of things going on that were out of our control. But we do have grand plans to celebrate next weekend, and throw her a proper party, even if it's just us that celebrate it with her.
We got her some Frosty Paws today at the grocery, and I plan to maker her a doggie cake (or maybe some cupcakes?) this week as well. We will take plenty of pictures of her party, but for now, here's a look back at the last year:
In the year we've had Paisley, she has learned many tricks: sit, stay, shake, down, leave it, okay (free), ergh! (no, haha), and how to bark (it's still strange to hear, she only does it when we're leaving the house too slowly and she knows she's going too). And today adds her newest "trick" - she got into the bath tub all on her own for the first time ever. I was especially proud of this event.
We have also learned many tricks: belly rub, feed me, let me out, stop-what-you're-doing-and-pay-attention-to-me-because-I'm-more-important-than-anything-you-could-be-doing (it took Scott nearly a year to learn that one), release (AKA: anything in your hand should be mine), and our favorite - hurry up!
Paisley has grown so much, in addition to the tricks she's learned. She now walks on hard floors with little to no "help." She knows her name! She (mostly) comes when she's called.
We've grown a lot too. We now accept that the bed is Paisley's bed, and she's just being kind enough to allow us to sleep in it (as I type this, Paisley is laying diagonally across the bed in the other room). :) We've got our schedules down pat, and we miss her when we leave town. Jessie says she misses us too, but I think she forgets when she's with Twister. :) It's strange to be in a house without a little white ninja shadow that makes the occasional jingling noise. I don't think either of us would know what to do without her now. She's the baby. We love her.
So. That's the update for today. It's a "Happy Birthday Paisley!" kind of day.
The moral? Adopted dogs are the best dogs there are.
She is such a force snuggler. And a she got lots of attention with Laura and Leslie being here... She's going to be sad to see them go in the morning.
