I spent a lot of tonight trying not to think about last night. I got lucky, and had some help at this. We went to see John Legend at the Fox Theater. It was fabulous. India.Arie was supposed to be the opener, but she was sick - which was heart breaking. Because I loooove her.
How many DVDs are in your collection? What types of movies do you usually buy?
This is a pretty good question. I have very specific DVDs that I buy. They break into four categories:
1. TV Seasons on DVD: All the seasons of "The Office," "Fraggle Rock," and "Dinosaurs."
2. Elvis movies. I have every movie Elvis was ever in. Just in case you were wondering, that's 33 movies. I have about 10 that I keep out, my top 10 favorites that I watch over and over. The rest are just bragging rights.
3. Tim Burton Movies: Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, etc.
and finally:
4. Kids movies: Lilo & Stitch, Little Mermaid, Shark Tale, etc.
I'd say that with all that considered, I really only long for one set of DVDs that I'm sure would be super pricey to get: the entire series (every episode ever) of "I Love Lucy" - that has always been my favorite show. I love that you can turn it on at any point and it's always funny. I spent a lot of time in high school and college watching Lucy. In fact, every time I go through customs or see/hear a baby on an airplane, all I can think about is Lucy smuggling her gigantor cheese log back to the US after being on tour with Ricky. :D
I have tons of books and memorabilia about her. She was so pretty. And so funny. I try not to focus on the "after ILL" era of Lucille Ball's life, however. Sometimes Hollywood is best left in the state you last saw it on the TV screen. After all, the whole reason it started was to get people away from the sadness and details of their own life, and focus on the hi-jinx and happy endings of an imaginary life.
For the last two blogs I've written here, there has been an ad for "Bejeweled" in the sidebar. How do they know that I'm a recovering addict? Can they sense it when I log in? Do they know I'm trying to abstain from the fun and addiction? Is someone else in Blog365 trying to tempt me into missing a post to take my crown for blogging over 500 days in a row? I will not succumb to this temptation!
